It’s Time to Start Filming!

Thank you for your interest in helping us to gather video footage that will help illustrate just how much we all are beginning to value and appreciate the people, individual acts, and small moments that make us grateful day to day in this time of social distancing.

We have been pleasantly surprised by the response we have received for this project and expect to have a great deal of footage coming our way over the course of the next week or so. As such, the reality is that we may not be able to use a portion of every clip sent our way, although we will try our best. Regardless of what does or doesn’t make the final cut of this video, we encourage you to share any of the footage you gather on your own social media channels.

If there is enough great footage, it is possible that there will be another video produced in the near future.

In an effort to make the production process as efficient and effective as possible, we are providing the following basic shooting suggestions and upload instructions:

  • We are looking for footage that depicts the gratitude, beauty, connections with people, and the individual moments that bring value to your life and/or the lives of others

  • The footage is to feel raw and real/human. All footage should be handheld (e.g. no gimbals or sliders). That said, please ensure that each shot is relatively steady (not too jittery) and be patient in capturing these moments/events/subjects (i.e. hold your individual shots for a minimum 5 seconds each)

  • The aspect ratio of the footage should be 16×9 and a resolution of 1920×1080 (if using a phone, please shoot sideways)

  • No wide angles, overly-distorted perspectives, or unnatural colour treatment. The footage should ideally make the audience feel as though they are there with you (if using a camera with lenses: 50mm or 24mm/34mm)

  • Please utilize natural light whenever possible

  • Consider shooting various angles of the same moment or event (“coverage”). Perhaps take a few shots of shorter length (5 to 10 seconds), rather than one long tracking shot.

  • Try to keep submitted footage to 2 minutes or less in total (this can be one clip or several selected “best of” clips)

  • Please capture audio (no music added please)

  • Important: Please respect and adhere to all the rules and common sense inherent to social distancing
